DarkMatter VoidCrawler Preview Generator is a WordPress administration plugin designed to crawl public standalone websites, discover HTML pages and their associated preview imagery, and generate clean, reusable preview blocks for WordPress pages.

The plugin was built specifically for environments where the source website is completely independent from WordPress. No shared theme, no WordPress templates, no embedded dependencies. The remote pages remain standalone applications or download pages with their own HTML, CSS, metadata, imagery, and directory structures.

What It Does

Enter the root URL or a specific directory you want to inspect and start a crawl. The Preview Generator follows the public site structure, reads discoverable HTML pages, identifies their metadata, and associates each page with the best available image.

When an HTML page provides an Open Graph image, Twitter image, page image, screenshot, preview graphic, hero image, or related image from the same directory, the plugin can use that asset automatically. This helps preserve accurate previews even when projects are moved into new directories or reorganized over time.

Standalone Site Support

The source website does not need to run WordPress.

The Preview Generator is intended for static pages, custom PHP applications, download servers, software repositories, documentation systems, and other independently hosted web content.

Automatic Image Discovery

WordPress Media Fallback

Older or legacy projects do not always contain preview graphics.

When no suitable image is discovered, the plugin provides access to the WordPress Media Library. An existing WordPress image can be selected or a new image can be uploaded specifically for that preview.

The Media Library is therefore a fallback rather than the default source. Existing remote imagery remains the preferred source whenever possible.
